Rant of the Week It is funny how time changes everything. When I was in college and went for a run, if I got a whistle from a construction worker, I was insulted. I was ready to hang out an ERA flag and give those men a piece of my mind. Now that I have a few "laugh lines", parts that sag, a couple of kids, and drive a station wagon, any construction worker that gives me a whistle makes my day. As soon as Scott walks in the door from work its the first thing I tell him.
Life in the Stroller Lane
Ah, but you don't read this journal to hear such dribble. I know you read this to hear about the girls, Scott, and I. When I last left off we were headed on our first vacation as a family of four. The girls did about as well as they could, but we didn't make any new friends on the plane either. The trip to TN was pretty smooth, but Jaley cried most of the flight back. There is just no good time to fly without interrupting some portion of an infant's nap schedule. It seems that some of our fellow passengers thought that harsh stares, loud sighs, and some exasperated grunts were what Jaley needed to settle down.
But, visiting all the family in TN was a great treat. We introduced Jaley to her great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Plus, Jan, Mike, and Emily were all in town too. So, Sarah and Jaley were in spoiling heaven. We went to Chuck-E-Cheeses', the park, Little League games, the pool, played outside, played inside, and more. Somehow, Sarah still had energy, but after all that excitement I was tired. Since we live several states away from all of our family, it is wonderful to get time with extended family and a joy for us.
Since getting back home, we have been pretty much status quo. I am pleased to announce that Jaley seems to be infection free and has even been sleeping through the night for us. Scott is on the road this week. Poor Guy is in New York City. I finished up most of the painting around our house and am now focusing on the real estate thing again. We have decided to sell one of the rentals, so it is time to get that place "prettied up." The real estate market has slowed down here, but compared to the real estate woes in much of the country it is a great market 'round these parts.
That's the news from the stroller lane. Lots of love.
