We are a little over a week into a brand new year. We hope that your 2009 is going well. We traveled last weekend to TN to celebrate granddaddy Harrell's 90th birthday. It was a wonderful celebration. In my opinion, a perfect party. Granddaddy's branches of the family tree have grown far and wide in his 90 years - there were an amazing 42 family members at the party. But the party didn't stop with just the Harrell clan. Grandmother and granddaddy have spent many years in Springfield. Many friends from the community joined the party as well. It is clear how much they are loved by all those around them.
While the party was the highlight of the weekend, we had a wonderful time our entire visit. Sarah and Jaley had a ball hanging out with their 2nd cousins. Scott and I love to watch them interact with all of their cousins. It reminds us of our own childhood visits to see cousins - running, laughing, playing, and raising a bit of Cain.
In fact, it was so much fun that Jaley and Sarah decided that sleep was optional the whole weekend. They went to bed way too late and greeted the day before the sun. By Sunday, we were all tired (but still smiling). The smiling was definitely aided by Mimi, Poppa, and Auntie Em -who all lent a hand with the girls veto of sleep. Scott and I extend a great big thank you.
We returned home late Sunday night and were back to the regular work & day care routine Monday. Unfortunately, our routine was started on a very sad note. Jan called to let us know that granddaddy had taken very ill that night. Thanks to a very fast response by the EMS and good doctors at the hospital, he is now recovering. Unfortunately, he will need to go through some rehab before he can return home. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. We are hoping that his is back home with grandmother really soon.
That is life in the stroller lane. Lots of love.
