Our First Graduation

It was our very first graduation. Graduation as parents that is. Unlike graduations past, we didn't cross the stage. Scott and I sat in the audience and applauded. It was time for Sarah to don a cap and gown. On Tuesday night, she walked up and received her preschool diploma.

Yes, they give out diplomas for preschool now. It may be a bit of overkill. Her acceptance the local kindergarten was a guarantee based on the state constitution. Overkill aside, I loved the photo op. And I must say, my baby sure looked grown up wearing a mortar board.

Another right of passage has come and gone for Sarah. She grown so much in the past five years. Her first steps and first words are memories dated in her baby book. She is onto first diplomas and the start of the school years. The "firsts" for Sarah will continue to evolve, never returning to those firsts of babyhood.

While a piece of me is sad to see the baby Sarah has disappeared, much more of me is excited to spend time with the little girl Sarah. Plus with Jaley turning 3 and Lil' Junior on the way, I still will enjoy many firsts of babyhood and toddlerhood for years to come.
