Vegas Baby

We need to take Sarah and Jaley to Vegas. They are just that lucky. Last weekend, we were at a birthday party at Frankie's (a grown up Chuck-E-Cheeses'). The birthday boy gave everyone tokens to play some of the games. Both girls hit it big.

Jaley put her money in one of the claw machines. The type that entices kids with great toys inside, but never grabs a prize. Except this time it did - to the tune of her very own Webkinz puppy. Not 5 minutes later, Sarah played the Price Is Right type wheel. The type that dangles the chance of a big jackpot of tickets, but never hits. Except this time it did - to the tune of 1000 tickets.

Like I said we need to take them to Vegas. Maybe that will be our new investment strategy - take our lucky girls to the casino and have them guess numbers at the roulette table.

Beyond our gambling girls, life here is pretty good. We even went to the circus last night. The Greatest Show on Earth was pretty darn good. The girls loved it and so did Michael. He was amazed by the lights and colors.

Look Who's 5 Months Old

Our little guy is 5 months old! However, he isn't so little anymore.

He is making up for his small size when the stork dropped him off. I switched out all the 0-3 month clothes at the end January. Over the weekend, his pants 3-6 month pants looked like capris (not a good look on a boy). I boxed up all of that size and brought out the 6-9 month clothes. And, those clothes are already looking a little tight - he may be onto 12-month before he passes half a year.

With all that growing, I can hardly keep him full. If this is how much a boy eats at 5 months, I'm in big trouble when he is 15. I'll have to make my runs to Sam's club with an 18-wheeler. I'm trying to convince him that rice cereal is delicious, but so far he is preferring an all liquid diet. I can't blame him, rice cereal doesn't look, smell or seem very appealing. Maybe he will dive right into the fruits and veggies, they are coming up soon.

In addition to growing, our little guy is doing all the things he should. But of all the great tricks he has learned, he has decided to give up his sleeping through the night trick. He is starving at 4AM and I'm his personal gravy train. With he recent growth spurt, it is no surprise. But as the mommy, I sure do miss a good night's sleep.

As for the rest of the house, Scott is in CA this week. I'm flying solo with all 3 kids and so far am keeping it together. Sarah is tracked out of school and getting into the Olympic spirit by going to an ice skating camp (how cool - pun intended). Jaley is chilling with me and we just finished feeding her baby dolls lunch.

Back to School

It turns out Sarah and Jaley aren't the only ones in school these days. I, too, am back to school. Some people buy a sports car, others get a few nips and tucks, my mid-life crisis comes in the form of college tuition - once again.

Yes, folks, I'm back in school again. Many of you already know about this zany idea of mine, but for those who don't here is the gossip. Apparently, I didn't spend all my time on bed-rest watching crap TV. There must have been a few minutes in between the Darvocet that I did a bit of soul searching. I realized I wanted to jump to a new career. An entirely different, gotta go back to school again type of career.

I have decided to become a nurse. It is a major change, but it feels like the right choice. This year I'm picking up a couple of pre-req classes. Next year I'll, hopefully, start nursing school in earnest.

Here I am once again donning a back pack. I am officially through my first exam of my first class of my third trip to college. I figure Grandma Moses didn't start painting until she was 75, so if I use her as my reference, my career change is 40 years ahead of schedule.

Snow Days and Days and Days

Here is a riddle for you. How many school days does the Wake County school system need off after 2.8 inches of snow? So far, three and counting. That is right. We got 2.8 inches of snow on Friday night (yes, Friday). School is still out.

In my raised in Florida, never had a snow day, don't know what a blizzard is opinion, the roads have been fine since Monday. The the schools didn't ask me and Sarah is enjoying a mini spring break. She isn't quite as thrilled about the make up days - which are all on Saturdays. With snow in the forecast again for this weekend, she could be making up kindergarten days well into first grade.

Saturday make-up days or not we had a great time. We went sledding and built a pint-sized snowman. We had hot chocolate and turned on the fireplace. We even took Michael Perry outside to get a glimpse. By the evening, Scott and I were exhausted. It turns out pulling sleds and kids up the hill and shoveling the driveway and walk is quite a workout.
