Last weekend was my birthday. Surprise, I turned 29 again. Scott indulged me with a whole birthday weekend. Friday he arranged for a ladies night out. As a mom of three, I can't even to get to the bathroom without a kid in tow. An evening of gossip and margaritas involving no one under 21 was absolutely decadent. Saturday he planned a fun family day complete with cake and ice cream. Sunday he scored tickets to the grand opening of the new NC Art Museum followed by brunch at Herons (a swanky restaurant in town). My mom kindly watched the kids, so I had another chance for uninterrupted conversation. It was a stupendous birthday and left me completely recharged for the week.
I wasn't the only one celebrating - so was Mills Park Elementary School's newest Wall Word Wizard (aka Sarah). For the past 2 months Sarah has been diligently learning a list of 200 sight words. Upon mastering this list, one is deemed a Wall Word Wizard complete with a paper hat. Sarah received this distinctive honor yesterday. We celebrated with an afternoon of strawberry picking and dinner at Red Robin. I tell ya, kindergarten ain't what it used to be. Homework, competitions, grades - yikes. All I had to know was name and my ABC's.
While the rest of us were having lots of fun - our little guy was a little sick. He had a stomach virus that lasted all week. As of yesterday, he seems back to his happy self - which, in turn, make me very happy too.
That is life in the stroller lane.
