While I have read literally thousands of pages about disease, drugs, and the nursing process, I can boil it down to just a few of highlights.
- The official word for itching is pruritus. Where the heck did that come from? I don't know, but I can tell you I have been seen that word on at least five tests this semester. Why confuse me and say "Varicella virus can lead to pruritus," when it is so much easier to say "Chicken Pox makes you itchy."
- Don't get sick. It is definitely the better choice. There are a lot of nasty diseases out there - really nasty ones. Even if they have a medication to treat you, the side effects of the drugs may be worse than the original disease. It is better to just stay healthy.
- Sometimes, staying healthy doesn't happen. If that is the case, I can tell you an absolutely wonderful group of nurses will be graduating from UNC in 2012. This semester I have met some of the best folks in the world. If you ever need a nurse, find one of my classmates and you will know you are in good hands. At least, that's my plan.
That is life in the stroller lane.
