Nine is Devine - Happy Birthday, Sarah

My baby girl, Sarah, turned nine last week.  While I hate to think about how quickly she is growing up, I love to see the young woman into which she is turning.  We made sure to commemorate the occasion in full Harrell fashion - meaning many celebrations.

Like most every other 9-year-old girl before her, Sarah has found herself enamored by horses.  While, she won't be getting a pony anytime soon, were able to wrangle up a horseback riding birthday party for her and a few friends.  I must have been crazy to book such a party in January, but Mother Nature came through for us with record high temps of 77.  That's right.  We didn't even need coats for our day in the saddle.

As soon as the party was over, Winter returned with perfect timing.  Sarah's birthday fell on the MLK holiday.  We took advantage of the long weekend and met the Schroeder's at Beech Mountain for a weekend of snow tubing, sledding, ice skating, and birthday fun.  We were treated to a foot of fresh fallen snow the night before we arrived and sunny skies all weekend during our stay.  Mother Nature came through again!!!

This week, Scott is in San Jose.  I was supposed to work today, but only worked 30 minutes, before I was put on call.  I have plowed through a zillion things on my to-do list and enjoyed the great weather.  Oh yes, I forgot to mention it.  After some winter ice last week, it is 65 today.  So, once again,  thank you Mother Nature.  That is life in the stroller lane.
