Last week, Sarah turned 11. In her words, it was "like, awesome." Like, OMG that is how she and all her 11-year-olds' friends talk. Babyhood, toddlerhood, and now childhood are gone. Sarah is a full-on tween. I keep trying to ignore the signs, but I can't deny it anymore. Fifth grade is half over and middle school is only a few months away. That is a picture of her opening a laptop - the ONLY thing she wanted for Christmas or her birthday. What was her first search on that shiny new laptop? "Minimum height to ride in the front seat," to which she found the convenient response of 4'9" -- her exact height. Speaking of height, she grew 5 inches and 5 shoe sizes this year. Nothing says tween more than pants that are too short.
While I sometimes hate to believe Sarah is already 11, she is growing into an amazing young woman. It is fun to watch her become her own person and make her own choices. Yes, there are occasions I taste blood from biting my tongue, but more times than not I agree with her. She is definitely wiser at 11 then I was at that age.
Now you will have to excuse me; I have to go squash Sarah's plea to get her own cell phone for Valentine's Day. Welcome to Tweenhood.
That is life in MomZania.
